What is the Rose Of The Year Award?
Rose of the Year has been around since 1982, awarded by the British Association of Rose Breeders and the British Group of the HTA to the best of the best.
Rose breeders are invited to submit what they consider to be the best of their up and coming varieties into the competition, which are then put through growing trials to decide the winner. Trials last for two years and are judged by both amateurs and professionals. They are conducted throughout the UK, from Aberdeen to Hampshire, and Northern Ireland to East Anglia, to further ensure all the varieties are trialed in different soil and climate conditions.
This prestigious award highlights excellent varieties of Roses, with excellent growing, disease resistance, and, of course, beautiful flowers.
A selection of the winners are on display at Roath Park in Cardiff, but if that is too far to travel, you could get your own selection of Rose of the Year award winners from us here at English Roses! We currently stock a selection of past winners, and we deliver nationally (excluding highlands and islands). Treat yourself or a loved one to a spectacular rose!

Absolutely stunning rose. I found English Roses on Facebook and was a bit dubious about ordering but took the chance - what a great decision that was! Updated about progress and delivery at every stage, delivered on time, incredibly well packaged and a simply stunning rose. Couldn’t be happier with the service and product and will most certainly order again.
Ordered Ruby Roses for my parents 40th wedding anniversary, couldn't be happier with them. Beautiful healthy plant and the perfect time of year for a gorgeous bloom. Added the gift bag and wooden tag and it just gives it that little extra something to make it even more special.
I was struggling for a 70th birthday gift for a family member and came across English Roses….they had the perfect gift…a ‘fab @ 70 Rose’ which I purchased in a beautiful willow basket with a ‘70’ wooden gift tag. I live quite close, so arranged a collection date and time. The process of collecting was super simple. The rose was packaged really well with care and planting instructions. The recipient was bowled over with the rose. I feel that for such a unique and special gift, it was priced very reasonably. I shall definitely use English Rose again…I just wish I found you sooner! I do have pictures but unfortunately they are too large to upload….but trust me, the rose and basket were beautiful.
This is the first time l have ordered from English Roses and l am very impressed. The website is easy to navigate and placing an order was straightforward. Looking forward to seeing it bloom and sharing the pictures with her.
This is the third rose since May that I have bought from English Roses, they have all been absolutely stunning. The packaging is super secure, the roses have all had an abundance of buds on them and continue to grow more. The scent from this one is beautiful and had strong roots on when I transferred it. I would highly recommend these roses, worth the money.
Bought welcome home for my daughter in law , it arrived on time and in great condition. She was absolutely delighted with it, having admired the one by my front door. What a great new home gift from a fabulous company
My Rose arrived this morning. The packaging was superb with the plant well anchored and protected. When I finally released it from the box the rose was looking really good in a large square pot with the compost still slightly moist. Instructions on care were in the package together with a QR code to get even more information. Couldn't be more pleased.
