Rose Gifts For History Lovers
All roses have unique names, which is part of what makes them such special gifts! At English Roses we have selected some specially named roses and assembled them here for you to peruse. Perhaps one of these will be the answer to your gift conundrum and provide a beautiful living rose gift to the lucky beneficiary.
Historic Figures & Cultural Icons
Roses are occasionally named after famous people, gods and kings.
From Ancient Greek mythology we have Aphrodite Rose and Eirene Rose, goddesses of beauty and peace respectively. If Ancient Egypt is more your style, why not look at Isis Rose or even King Tut Rose after the young pharaoh.
For more recent cultural icons and famous people, Karen Blixen Rose is named after the author of Out Of Africa, while Ingrid Bergman makes a stunning tribute to the swedish actress.
Significant Events
No-one can deny the influence of the Flower Power movement of the 1960’s and 70’s, so this rose would create a wonderfully nostalgic gift for anyone that is still a hippie at heart.
Go back further in history to the 1700s and the Jacobites shaped the political landscape into how we know it today. Their emblem was the stunning white rose known as Alba Maxima, which you can still buy today!
