Give nature a helping hand by choosing a bee friendly rose for your garden. We have a fantastic range of colours available from patio roses to climbers and they are all attractive to bees. So why not consider a bee friendly option that will make an eco-friendly statement in the garden and provide a burst of wonderful colour over the summer months.
Why Are Bee Friendly Roses Important?
Many species of bee are in decline due to habitat loss and modern farming methods. We also rely on these insects as they pollinate 80% of plants on the earth including most of our food crops. And by spreading the pollen between flowers, the bees initiate a process that culminates with the production of seeds. Whether you have a small patio or a large garden, planting one of these roses provides nectar for energy and pollen for the health of the hive.
What Is A Bee Friendly Rose?
Bees collect nectar from the centre of the flower and spread pollen from flower to flower. However, many modern roses have been bred with a tight ball of petals for aesthetic reasons. Bee friendly roses offer open blooms that allow bees access to the centre of the flower. Instead of dense layers of ruffled petals these roses have a ring of petals that expose the reproductive elements of the flower.
Roses can also have colours or fragrances that are particularly attractive to a bees senses. A bees vision is heavily attuned to ultra-violet, blue and green light, meaning roses that have tones of purple and blue stand out well for them. Strong fragrances with floral and citrusy tones will also attract a bee.
Eco-Friendly Gifts
Gifting a rose that bees love is a great choice for bees and the planet alike. At English Roses all our packaging is sustainable from recycled cardboard boxes to recyclable pots. We also offer a range of wildflower seeds that are perfect for attracting butterflies and ladybirds as well as bees which you can buy here. We also stock a bee revival kit that helps exhausted bees get going again. A bee friendly rose will make a wonderful gift for the nature lover in your life.
Perfect Rose Gifts

Expertly planted by our specialist rose care team, your rose will be patio ready in its durable yet attractive basket. Simply choose your rose and follow the on screen prompts, and we do the rest! How else can we help the bees?
There is lots that we can do to help save the bees, and most are small changes that will make a big difference!
Native wildflowers provide a diverse source of nectar for bees and other pollinators. You can even get blends of seeds that are specially designed for help bees! See here for our wildflower seedball range, including bee friendly mixes in a range of sizes.
Bee hotels can be bought or made, and provide an excellent nesting site for solitary bees.
Create a shallow water station with pebbles or stones so that bees have constant access to clean water and can drink without drowning.
Leave sections of your garden untended so that native plants and wildflowers are able to grow, providing a much needed food source year-round. Ground-nesting bees would also appreciate some patches of bare soil and undisturbed grass margins.
Avoid using harsh chemicals, pesticides and insecticides in your garden – bees are insects too! Instead, use environmentally friendly methods of feeding and protecting your garden, such as SB Plant Invigorator or English Roses Rose Foliar Feed.

so looking forward to seeing it next year.
This is the first time I've bought from English Roses. Start to finish the process was simple. I'd searched for a particular variety on several websites but they were all out of stock. English Roses had the specific rose I needed. Website was easy to navigate and the plant was delivered quickly. To my pleasant surprise it was flowering with many more buds to come, and the foliage was in perfect condition. Given this was a mid-September purchase I was delighted. It now has pride of place in a front garden border.
My Fab@60 rose was a wonderful surprise gift; a quality shrub in great packaging, with plenty of information on how to look after it. It has been flowering these past five weeks and makes me smile every time I walk past it.
Very impressed with the ease of ordering online and having the choice of delivery date. I was notified when the package had been dispatched and kept updated all through the delivery process. When it was delivered the packaging had kept the rose safe and secure and still in the excellent condition it had been sent out in, along with thorough instructions for plant aftercare.
Arrived in excellent condition, extremely well packed and looks superb in its wicker container. Look forward to seeing the flowers, later in the season.
Ordered 2 Ruby Wedding roses. They are both in perfect condition and healthy. Really impressed with the sturdy, recyclable packaging. Thanks English Roses! 😊
The roses arrived on time, perfectly packaged and in excellent condition.
I purchased 2 precious ruby roses and 2 alba maxima roses. The ruby ones arrived already bloomed and look beautiful. I’m looking forward to planting them in my garden planters.
Chose this rose based on the name, to celebrate the birth of a precious little baby - was so pleased to find a company that could deliver an actual flowering plant! It arrived 24 hours later, I was kept informed of the progress and the recipients were absolutely delighted! Would definitely order again from this company.
Such a beautiful friend rose, gorgeous scent & well established with plenty of buds. It came well packaged & presented & came on the day we asked . Our friend loved her fabulous gift. Would definitely recommend this rose & English roses as a company. Many many thanks x
Ordered this for a very close friend for her Birthday. This looked a particularly lovely rose and having bought quite a few roses in the past I was happy that this rose would come up to the same standard.
When it arrived it looked extremely healthy and well packed (as usual)
Lovely rose, arrived on time, excellent packaging. The root ball was well developed, confirming a pot grown plant, which compared very favourably with another rose from another supplier which was a bare root put in compost. Will use English Roses again.
Although arrived a day late in a heatwave (not your fault) your packaging and care saved the day just needed a quick water and was pristine again .This is the second rose I’ve had from you since loosing my daughter and they have given me much joy and happiness thank you x
